Hanover committee plans four youth wellness initiatives for spring and summer

NJ HANOVER — Hanover's Mayors Wellness Campaign Steering and Advisory Committee plans four youth wellness initiatives for spring and summer 2026. The committee approved a full-day self-defense and situational awareness program in physical education classes for grades 6 through 8 at Memorial Junior School, conducted by Sensei Merkey, with permission slips being prepared. A Bicycle Safety Program will run June 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Malapardis Park with organizers Tom Quirk, Christine Amoresano, Patrol Officer Malasig, and Sergeant Gundersdorf, featuring multiple stations and free helmet inspections and replacement through Avenues in Motion, with registration opening May 7 on Community Pass.
A Human Trafficking Awareness Event will take place May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building, replacing the May meeting, and the committee selected Mark Castellano to speak to students about moral decision-making and peer pressure.
