Hanover Recreation Commission honors youth athletes at awards ceremony

NJ HANOVER — Hanover Recreation Commission holds awards ceremony, approves memorial tree project. The meeting, led by Chairman Jim Coiley, included a special 7 p.m. ceremony honoring basketball, wrestling, and swimming athletes for sportsmanship and leadership. The Commission unanimously approved a request from resident Tom Hampton to plant a memorial tree and plaque at Brickyard Park in memory of Matthew Primer, 23, a member of the Hanover Tiger Football League who died April 21.

Project updates showed the Bee Meadow splash pad in final construction, expected to open by May 30, while the Central Park hockey rink is scheduled for a grand opening June 20 featuring New Jersey Devils demonstrations. Swim team registration reached a record 157 participants.
