The 2-cent open space surcharge is expected to remain in the town's budget, supporting multiple ongoing initiatives. The committee received updates on the Bee Meadow splash pad, temporarily halted by frigid weather, and an open space project on the former Route 24 right-of-way moving forward with grant funding and requiring an engineering contract.
Additionally, Malapardis Pond was available for ice skating for the first time in approximately 15 years. The committee prioritized an overall upgrade to the Malapardis Park playground, which officials noted is obsolete and requires comprehensive renovation.
